25th August - Stableford
No moaning about the weather today, that excuse just wont pass the pub test. Another good turnout with 140 men and 50 women enjoying the great conditions. Our Ladie's B graders showed the rest of us how it should be done with 4 players reaching the magical 40pts. Top scorer for the girls was Tracey Liddelow(44pts, including a wipe) and for the boys Dennis Bowman(42pts, with no double bogeys). The Serra's had contrasting days with best-golfer-in-the-house Jill(40 pts) nearly doubling Adrian's effort of 21!! Ross Hunter(39 pts), making it 2 podiums in 2 weeks, would have pushed President Shirley for most photos on the website but luckily a couple of our other winners smiled for the camera.
Carmel, with 40 pts, represents our Committee this week. Her 4-point birdie on the 3rd also won her nearest approach for the Ladies. She also parred the 8th to score a very impressive 24 points on the front 9 to win by 1 from Di Collins.

First time in the winner's circle for Kevin. Despite a wipe on 9 Kevin carded 36 points to finish 3 behind D Grade winner Ross Hunter and pinching runners up spot on countback from Frank Farmer.
You always feel Des has a good round up his sleeve. Coming home with 3 pointers on 16,17 and 18 gave Des 38 points, 4 points behind Dennis Bowman and beating Gavin Chillingworth on countback. You deserve a beer Des.

August Monthly Medal
There was the odd shower around today and some on and off strong winds but our turnout, as ever, was excellent. 130 men and 35 ladies finished the 18-hole monthly medal Competition and some of our experienced Vets shone through, with Vice President Pat representing the Committee. Top score for the men was Chris Norris, winning C grade with a 67, and for the Ladies A Grader Christine Parkinson came in with a 71 to win A Grade. Allison Jackson must have had a putting lesson to win least putts with 26 and for the Men Ian Whiteley putted like a demon with 25.
Auntie Pat was the top Lady Leftie in the Club with an impressive 72. Pars on 3rd, 7th and 15th shaded runners up spot on c/b from Fran Taylor. The 3 7's in 4 holes might have cost her, finishing 1 behind Christine.
Dave got off to a flyer by parring the first 3 holes and kept his nose in front with an impressive 5 over back 9. He hung on to beat Ian Whiteley by 1 stroke. All that practice must be working Dave.
Wayne took the winners cheque in D Grade with a solid 69, 2 under his handicap. His pars on the 2nd and 10th just got him over the line on countback from Ross, carding matching 47s on both nines.

11th August - Stableford
There should be no complaints about the conditions for today's Stableford event perfect weather, and a perfect course. 47 ladies and 145 men played today with Kris Tollefsen 41 points and President Shirley 43 points producing the best handicap slashing scores. For a change we've picked some other winner's photos besides our President otherwise Shirley would get her photo on every webpage - hope you don't mind sharing the limelight Shirley and well done on your 5-point birdie on the 2nd hole.
Mark showed Shirley isn't the only Committee member who can play golf. He even copied Shirley's birdie on the 2nd hole - but only got 4 points though. A steady round with only 2 doubles saw Mark pip Larry by 1 to win B Grade.

Mixed 4BBB Aggregate
A novelty event with players not having to worry about their handicaps only if they would have to carry their partners. There was a lot of heavy lifting and plenty of sore shoulders by the end of the day with the ladies doing most of the scoring for their grateful male partners. 34 couples entered this event which is a great turnout. A joint score of 75 points saw Chris and Kerry win by 3. Two 4-point Pars by Kerry on the 1st and 16th holes gave them a comfortable victory on the day.
Lucky Larry was carried by the better golfer in the house, Brenda. 38 points from Brenda including a 4-point par on the 2nd gave them runners up spot on countback. Larry will be cooking the tea tonight.

July Monthly Medal
July's Monthly Medal was played in near perfect conditions and that was echoed with some of the low scores recorded. 40 Ladies and 125 men took to the first tee to count them all and, on true but fast greens, also counting putts. Top score for the Men winning A Grade was George Sellars with an excellent 66 and for the Ladies Jackie Hart carded a fine 70 to win A Grade. Maree won runners up spot on countback from Robyn Edgar and Pat McKewen. Maree carded 4 pars on the 1st, 4th, 10th and 13th and kept those big numbers off her scorecard. Well done Maree.
Great to see our Club Patroness Barb showing she's still up there with the best. A 1 under her handicap 72 including a par on the long first hole gave Barb victory in B Grade by 2 shots.
Not a name you've seen in the victory circle lately. A 69 with birdies on the 4th, 13th and 15th and hitting the flag on the 5th gave Chris runner up spot by 3 shots, also helped by some good lag putting with 26 putts.
Pam's 2nd week in a row in the winners circle, coming in as runner up to Barb after victory 2 weeks ago in B Grade. A nice par on the 3rd helped get Pam home on countback from Jenny Hampson.
Bungara Shield Round 2
Bargara V Bundaberg, Europe v USA - there is no difference, the fierce rivalry is still there, albeit in a lot friendlier environment!! The 2nd round of this year's Bungara Shield was held in warm, sunny, but blustery conditions over at Bundaberg Golf Club, with the course in excellent condition. Bargara were holding onto a lead of 1.53 points from the first round, and 53 Bargara Vets made the short trip across to Bundy. On the day 64 Bundaberg Golfers gave them a narrow victory of 0.9 points which meant Bargara squeaked home over the 2 rounds by a small margin of 0.6 points. Notable Bargara performances were Shane Austin and David Cook both registering 37 points and for the Ladies, President Leacy led the way with 35 points. Bargara has now won 17 of the 20 matches since its inception in 2005.
Vets Open Day 2026
A rain effected Open Day saw numbers down due to the weather. Early starters faced the worst of the weather with many failing to finish in very wet conditions. 20 ladies started with 16 finishing and the men had 73 starters with 57 finishing. As the day brightened the late starters had the best of it and posted some decent scores. The Vets haven't had the best of luck this year with many events affected by bad weather. Lets hope our luck improves for the rest of the year.
Pars on the 2nd, 10th, 15th and 17th contributed to Leanne's 34 pts, winning her A grade on countback.
Adrian cruised to victory in C grade by 3 points. Pars on the 3rd and a 4 pointer on the 17th sealed the victory.

June Monthly Medal
The June Monthly Medal was played in near perfect conditions showed by the plethora of low scores. A stroke event is always a little more taxing than a straight forward Stableford, plus there is the added pressure of counting putts. With the sun and dry conditions, ensuring the greens were pretty fast, putting can make or break your score. 42 Ladies and 118 Men competed in this month’s medal, the full prize list for winners, the rundown, the pin shots and approaches for both Ladies and Men are in the links below.
